About Us
Rom 16:16 ...the churches of Christ greet you.
The Sandia church of Christ is a congregation of believers who strive to follow Christ according to the teachings and examples found in the New Testament. We are an autonomous congregation overseen by local elders. We are eager to learn, grow, and serve in love and truth. We invite and welcome you to join us in worship, Bible study, and striving to grow closer to the Lord.
OUR Assemblies
The New Testament provides teaching and examples for how to worship and we strive to follow that pattern. We engage in prayer. We sing songs of praise, devotion, and edification. We preach the word of God. On Sundays we partake of the Lord’s Supper, which is a memorial of the death of Jesus on the cross. On Sundays we also take up a collection from the members of the congregation to support the work of the church. Visitors are not asked or expected to contribute. We also have a Bible study period on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.
In our worship assemblies and bible studies we pursue a spiritual focus in order to praise God and fulfill spiritual needs. We warmly welcome you to visit our services. (Heb 12:28)
OUR BELIEFS
We have no creed other than the word of God. Based on the New Testament, our beliefs include the following:
-
God's plan for redemption is centered on Jesus, who is the Son of the living God. Jesus died on the cross and was resurrected from the tomb. He then established his church, his kingdom, on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2.
-
We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God. We believe all authority is found in the word of God. Consequently, every belief we may have, must be in accordance with God’s word. (2 Tim 3:16-17)
-
We believe that salvation comes as the New Testament teaches; by hearing the word of God, believing Jesus is the Son of God, confessing Him as Christ the redeemer, repenting of sin, being baptized for the remission of sins, and living a faithful life in fellowship with God. We are saved by grace but God requires our faith to receive that grace, and faith is not genuine unless it is responsive to God’s will. (Jam 2:17, Gal 3:27)
-
We believe there is only one true New Testament church. To be that church, we must worship, work, and be organized as the Bible teaches rather than by human tradition and preference. The work and purpose of the Lord's church is spiritual in nature. (Eph 3:21)
There is a great sea of confusion when it comes to Christianity. Many of our number have come out of that sea and now understand the distinction of the New Testament church. We invite you to do the same.
