Welcome to the website of the Sandia church of Christ. We are a congregation of Christians who strive to be followers of Christ based on the teachings of the New Testament. We endeavor to teach and obey the authority of God’s word in all things and to function as the first century church we read of in the Bible. The Bible is the only standard for our teachings and practices. Consequentially, we are not a denomination, have no human head (the head of the New Testament church is Christ, Eph 5:23), have no earthly headquarters, and are not tied to any organizational superstructure. As the first disciples did, we meet, worship, and work as an autonomous congregation, and are overseen only by local elders. We identify ourselves as a church of Christ as spoken of in Romans 16:16, as this expression describes the church which belongs to Christ. There is a vast sea of confusion in the world when it comes to Christianity. Many of our own number have come out of that stormy sea and now can look back and understand more clearly the distinction between the New Testament church and the denominationalism of man.
